A second serving of Ginposium to support the gin industry during second lockdown
15th September, 2023
With current on-trade closures rounding off an unprecedented and challenging year for the gin industry, The Gin Guild is ‘getting in a second round’ and serving up additional 2020 Ginposium seminar content to help promote innovation and provide inspiration.
Ginposium, the gin industry body’s annual seminar is an industry highlight. Covid meant that their live June event had to be brought to a global audience merely as an online event for the first time.
To bring a little pre-Christmas cheer and encourage industry collaboration and communication, Gin Guild Director General Nicholas Cook has brought together a line-up of international speakers for a second online serving. This went live on this website on 16 November.
Keynote speakers include Mark Meek, CEO of IWSR, discussing global gin trends, the impact of Covid-19 and the opportunities for the global gin market, a workshop on the provision of consumer information from spiritsEurope, and a presentation on the rise of Indian gin by Anand Virmani, from Goa-based NAO Spirits & Beverages.
Speakers have created a series of videos which are available at www.theginguild.com and www.ginposium.com.
Gin Guild Director General Nicholas Cook said:
Sadly, we are still unable to meet in person but, at such a difficult time, we believe we can provide our usual thought-provoking and engaging content about industry innovations, trends and challenges to a global audience online.
“We had such a positive response from our first online serving in June that we wanted to continue to support our members and the wider industry by expanding our seminar offering.
“As we head towards 2021, facing the double-whammy of Brexit and ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, we hope to spread a little Christmas cheer, and hope that a vaccine roll-out in 2021 will allow a responsible and realistic resumption of live events and a recovery of the hospitality industry.”
